Description
Pseudocubic mug with hexagonal lattice motif and raised feet. Thrown then altered porcelain with celadon glaze, cone 6 oxidation.
The hexagonal lattice motif in the surface decoration was made with a slip based on hematite crystals, which I crystallized using hydrothermal methods, that has a microscale cubic shape. This cube-like shape that these hematite crystals have is inconsistent with the hexagonal lattice arrangement that the iron and oxygen atoms have in the hematite crystal structure. In my 202 pseudocubic series, I am exploring this conundrum of symmetries.
Approximate size: 3.25 inches tall; 3.25 inches wide (not including handle); holds 10 ounces.
Price listed is for a single mug. Please list color/glaze preference when ordering.
